Deborah Kynes Gets Endorsement By Cherokee Nation

In a letter dated March 3, 2009, and sent to the St. Petersburg Times, Chad Smith, Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation headquartered in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, endorsed current Dunedin Commissioner Deborah Kynes for Mayor of Dunedin. Excerpts from this written endorsement are below:
"Dear Editor [St. Petersburg Times]: Kynes is a citizen of the Cherokee Nation...she maintains the positive Cherokee values and attributes that drive great public servants.

"She is an experienced and qualified civic leader and has demonstrated her commitment to the citizens of Dunedin....noteworthy accomplishments during her tenure on the City Council are the new Gateway Development Project, a reduction in the tax rate, the Hammock Park Rehydration Project, and the acquisition of a 7-acre waterfront park.

"She is a tireless worker and is dedicated to working to improve the quality of life for Dunedin citizens.

"As Prinicipal Chief of the Cherokee Nation, I am pleased to support tribal citizens such as Ms. Kynes who exhibit great leadership. She practices the Cherokee concept of gadugi, which translates roughly to "working together for the good of the group or community."

"Please vote for Deborah Kynes for Mayor. Sincerely, Chad Smith, Principal Chief"

"Love Someone" Valentine's Day Tree Planting

Deborah Kynes was also in attendance of a tree planting at the St. Andrew's Links Golf Course that was hosted by the The Bay Bouquet Garden Club (BBGC) in order to commemorate the service of others and the importance of trees in the world on this Valentine's Day morning. Also in attendence were BBGC President Julie Easterday (aka "The Tree Lady"), City Arborist Alan Mayberry, and assorted members of the organization. It was a great event that filled the hearts of those in attendance. The trees planted were a Southern Magnolia and a Hybrid Cypress.

Deborah Kynes at Keller Building Site

From Deborah Kynes at Keller Building Site

On Valentine's Day, Deborah Kynes attended the historical Keller Building Site, where it was preparing to be torn down later that same day. The Keller Building, built in 1926, was an influential part of the growth of Dunedin, creating jobs for many in the community. 4th Generation Angelelis Family members attended the gathering among friends and passers-by.

Candy and Michael Bryant, owners of the Dunedin Brewery, graciously opened their doors for hot coffee, breakfast treats, and offered up their new Coffee House Cafe Brew for $2.50 a pint---all to welcome and support the Angelelis Family and friends.
